On this page you will find an overview of the main products caught by Parlevliet & Van der Plas. All products are caught and processed by our own vessels. Our fleet is fishing mainly in European, North Atlantic and West African waters and in the South Pacific.
Parleviet & Van der Plas B.V. and its German subsidiary companies Euro-Baltic Fischverarbeitungs GmbH and German Seafrozen Fish Handelsgesellschaft mbH have been awarded Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for the catching and processing of North Sea herring. The MSC is an independent international organisation, founded in 1996 by the WWF together with Unilever.
The achievement of certification status is in recognition of the responsible management of the fishery, which embraces environmental needs, strict adherence to scientifically based catch quotas and minimization of unintended catches, together with improvement in fishing methods and research into fish stocks to avoid over exploitation.. The underlying principle is the continuity of the fishing industry and the fisheries upon which it depends – to achieve this, the supply of frozen pelagic fish to consumers must be in balance with pelagic fish stocks. As a member of the Pelagic Freezer-trawler Association, Parlevliet & Van der Plas has established a policy in which co-operation and the transfer of knowledge concerning sustainable fisheries play a central role.
present, the certification of mackerel in European waters is well advanced and is expected to be completed before the end of 2008. The certification of Baltic herring which is processed at Euro-Baltic Fischverarbeitungs GmbH, in Sassnitz, Germany is also being actively progressed.
